Feeding Therapy / Dietetics

Our paediatric dietitian specialises in providing supportive and neurodiverse-affirming feeding therapy to both children and their families. Our dietitian works with families and children to ensure nutritional adequacy for growth and development, using responsive feeding therapy. Responsive feeding therapy is an evidenced-based approach to supporting children with significant feeding challenges, which is individualised, family-centred and focuses on building a child’s autonomy, skills, and confidence with eating.

Feeding therapy looks different at Little People Therapies. We believe every child should have access to safe and fun opportunities to explore food, without pressure or judgement. We believe little people can grow into confident eaters, when their needs are accepted, affirmed, and respected. We deliver play-based feeding therapy that prioritises accommodations and respects a child’s sensory needs around food and eating.

Our paediatric dietitian specialises in:

  • Restrictive food preferences
  • Sensory food aversions
  • Faltering growth, malnutrition, and poor weight gain
  • Tube feeding and blenderised tube feeding
  • Micronutrient deficiencies
  • Food intolerances and allergies
  • ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder)
